Voter Turnout Up in South Omaha

"Voter participation in South Omaha’s Ward 4 for the 2014 Midterm Elections had a net increase of 26 percent compared to the 2010 Midterm Elections. Latinos turned out to vote in greater proportion as a result of the Heartland Workers Center’s (HWC) efforts over the last ten months to organize voters in South Omaha, along with ballot initiatives to increase the state’s minimum wage and improve schools across Omaha.

"On behalf of the Heartland Workers Center, said its Executive Director, Sergio Sosa, “I would like to thank all the social, religious, and educational institutions, as well as the community members, who collaborated throughout the year and on Election Day, which helped to make our efforts a success.”"
