It’s that time of the year again to give to the Heartland Workers Center for Omaha Gives! on Wednesday, May 25. Omaha Gives! is a 24-hour online giving event organized annually by the Omaha Community Foundation to increase philanthropic giving in the Omaha Metro area.
With your contribution, we can:
- Organize 1,000 new Latino voters for the 2016 Presidential Elections
- Train 150 workers in the construction and cleaning industries about their rights and responsibilities in the workplace, especially about the right to a safe workplace and the right to get paid
- Find, train, and develop 100 Latino leaders from South Omaha and rural communities who will develop the skills necessary to organize their networks to vote and participate in worker rights trainings
- Lobby for legislation in the State Legislature to build a more equitable Nebraska for Latinos and immigrants
This year’s official event will take place on Wednesday, May 25, starting at 12 A.M., and closing at 11:59PM. However, you can make your donation to the Heartland Workers Center now by scheduling it anytime between May 1 and May 25.
Your contribution is a large part of how we can impact the lives of people in our community, by organizing new voters, training workers about their rights, training leaders, and building collective power for Latinos and immigrants in Nebraska. Together, we can continue to build a community that works for all.
Our fundraising goal for this year’s Omaha Gives! is $5,000.
