I Vote for my Family Campaign Moving Forward

With the 2016 presidential elections soon upon us, the Heartland Workers Center’s I Vote For My Family campaign is in full force. Since 2012, the HWC has worked to increase voter turnout among Latinos in South Omaha. As we have done in previous years, we are going door-to-door to educate new voters of the electoral process and also providing educational material on who is running for office. In addition, we are registering new citizens in South Omaha to vote. For this year’s elections, we are partnering with 12 non-profit organizations, churches, schools, and universities.  We will reach out to new voters through canvassing and register and educate their clients, patients, and students.  We will continue to identify new leaders, who together with these organizations and the HWC can begin to build a culture of civic engagement in South Omaha.

But we cannot reach our goal of building this culture alone.  We are continually looking for people who are interested in being a part of the I Vote For My Family campaign.Currently, canvassing takes place Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. We will begin canvassing on Saturdays starting September 10th from 11am to 3pm.

If you’d like to volunteer or have further questions, please call the Heartland Worker’s Center at 402-933-6095.
