Health and Safety Training Institute (OSHA authorized)
The training institute is designed for small business employers and their employees to help them understand their roles and responsibilities in creating a safe and healthy work environment. Trainings can be customized for workers in several industries including construction, cleaning and general labor.
Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Learn the ins and outs of the Department of Labor’s Family Medical Leave Act, which allows employees to take unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons.
Discrimination in the workplace leads to more than a bad day at work. It takes a toll on the physical, mental and emotional well being of employees. Learn how to prevent, recognize and respond to discrimination in the workplace. This training also will discuss anti-discrimination laws and how to file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the State Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission.
Right to Organize
Most non-government workers have a federal right to organize on the job. Learn about this right, the National Labor Relations Board that protects it, and specific ways in which workers can come together to improve wage and working conditions.
This training is designed for union members to help them understand what is required under their union contract, and to help union stewards understand how to implement the contract within their workplace. Participants also will learn the difference between union and non-union organizing models.
Sexual Violence in the Workplace
Held in collaboration with ASISTA and the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, this training for domestic violence and labor advocates educates participants on what workplace sexual violence entails and how to support victims.
Public Versus Private Life
Right to Vote
The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy. This course provides an overview of voting laws, procedures, the electoral process, and how to get informed on the candidates and their positions.
Know Your Rights
Learn what rights persons have in various situations, including when an immigration agent or police officer comes to their home or place of work, stops them while on foot, or pulls them over in a vehicle.
